Walking Mishaps

Today we went on a nice Pontesbury walk... well that was what we thought.
First of all, the map said that after 15 mins we would see a stile. After about 25 mins we realised that the stile was actually replaced by the small kissing gate that had stinging nettles all over it. The map was clearly out of date by about a couple of years. It was so overgrown that we couldn't get in it! On the way back to the gate a couple of cyclists said that a calf had just been born at a farm nearby. We decided to go and see the calf. Unfortunately we didn't see a newborn calf, but we did see this 4 hour old one...

It could barely stand up!
HOW TO SURVIVE IN THE COUNTRY TIP #1
NEVER wear green and lie down on grass in a field of cows (they may mistake you as grass and chew you).
We eventually did do the walk and it was quite nice...

Carding Mill Valley

Today we went to Carding Mill Valley where we went for this nature trail were we started at the cafe and finished at the reservoir. It was only about a 2 mile walk, but it was still tiring. We climbed hills with ropes, went pond dipping and relaxed on the grass looking at the view...

When I went pond dipping I caught 2 baby fish and saw a frog...

At the reservoir...

On the way back I also found some wildlife...

Well, it was almost perfect as at  the end I fell into a pond and got VERY wet!

Whinberry Walks

So, this is my first entry, and I'm going show you about my 1st day in Shropshire.
On the way to the Whinberry Meadow (where we went to pick whinberries) all we saw was fields, fields and fields, but finally we found the whinberry bushes...

Whinberry Bushes and THE Stiperstones ridge

On the way back we took a whole new route where we saw some more interesting things...

The remains of a 18th century house

                                                                                               A VERY old tractor

I also took some pics of some nice flowers...

                                                                            Foxglove

                                                                              Heather

                                                                       Meadow Crane's bill

                                                                            Hare bell

We also walked through a field of some sheepish sheep!...

 ...And some cows!

Well unfortunatly the nice weather couldn't stay, now there is a thunderstorm (why am I not surprised???).
